Grayscale PDF

Convert a PDF to black and white — great for cheaper printing.

Turn a color PDF black-and-white in one click — handy for lower-cost printing or a cleaner look. Every page is converted to grayscale and the file downloads ready to print.

Conversion runs locally in your browser. Note that pages are rendered to grayscale images during conversion, so the output is a raster version of your document (selectable text becomes part of the image).

How it works

  1. 1Select or drag in your file
  2. 2Choose your options and click “Grayscale PDF”
  3. 3Download the result — everything ran in your browser

Frequently asked questions

Will the text still be selectable afterwards?

No. To guarantee a fully grayscale result without a server, each page is rendered to a grayscale image, so text and vectors become part of that image. Choose a higher resolution for sharper output.

Which resolution should I pick?

150 dpi is a good default. Use 300 dpi for printing, or 72 dpi for a smaller on-screen file.

Is my PDF uploaded to convert it?

No. Your file is processed entirely in your browser using JavaScript — it is never uploaded to a server, so nothing can be stored, leaked, or read by anyone else.
